The Klevgrand Richter heavy compressor, which is normally $70, is now free with any purchase on Plugin Boutique until January 31, 2025.
Richter is a 64-bit-only macOS and Windows release for AAX, AU, VST, and VST3.
There’s also a $13 iPad version available on the App Store, but that doesn’t seem to be included in the giveaway.
The freebie is Plugin Boutique’s current monthly giveaway. Usually, the site gives users a couple of freebies to pick from, but this month, Richter is the only option available.
You can get your free copy of Richter with any purchase on Plugin Boutique. There’s a list of terms and conditions, but the main point is that it’s free with any purchase that involves spending money, so free products don’t count.
Klevgrand describes Richter as a tectonic comp that can produce super heavy compression with minimal artifacts.
The dev notes that the plugin is perfect for producing punchy drums, meaty mixes, and smooth, transparent vocals.
If you’d like to hear what Richter sounds like in action, well Klevgrand has got you covered with six demo tracks on a SoundCloud player embedded on the product page.
The six tracks are featured with both wet and dry versions and include drums, vocals, and four full arrangements in various styles.
The YouTube demo is quite brief, but it does give an idea of how the parameters interact with the output.
To my ears, the dev’s description above of what Richter does is pretty accurate, as it thickens up tracks and gives them more presence and weight, while also maintaining a transparent sound.
Due to how Richter’s algorithm was designed, Klevgrand has provided a somewhat unconventional control scheme for the comp.
The two main controls are Amount and Transients. Amount controls how much compression gets applied within a single parameter, while the Transients knob controls how the internal envelope follower reacts to transients and longer sounds.
This deviation from the typical control scheme for a comp is designed to provide an intuitive user experience.
The interface is rounded out by the following elements: Trim, Boost, preset selector, Makeup, Dry/Wet, graphic display, Bass, Treble, and Output.
This interface won’t be for everyone, but I think Klevgrand has successfully trimmed down the control scheme to the essentials in a way that makes it fairly easy to get a handle on things at a glance.
Plugin Boutique has provided a step-by-step guide on how to claim the freebie on the giveaway page, but it’s a pretty straightforward process anyway.

onVST Alarm have Red Sounds vocal manipulation tool “Vox Engine 3” for free, for two weeks. Kontakt 5 full version is needed to use it.
One has to input the order at VST Alarm to get a code to use at Red Sounds website. The Vox Engine 3 retails for $35 there, but will be free with the code from VST Alarm
BUT WAIT, THERE IS MORE: 5 Red Sounds packs are included as bonus!

onSorry, I bought it, I already own other things from Klevegrand, but this compressor is the worst of its kind. Not recommended and the price is definitely not worth it.

onIt’s definitely not useful as a general compressor but it’s a lot of fun on drums
