HydraTek and Spektralisk have teamed up once again to release Nihil, a new sound pack for Xfer Records’ Serum 2, as well as a standalone WAV sample collection. They are also giving away the collection for free to three lucky BPB readers.
Nihil is designed for producers and composers craving raw intensity and deep cinematic tension. The creators describe it as a “sonic warfare toolkit” ideal for hybrid trailer music and hard-edged electronic genres.
With its 100 Serum 2 presets, Nihil pushes the limits of distortion, atmosphere, and motion. You’ll find gritty basses, piercing leads, glitch-heavy FX, and immersive soundscapes—each with the signature dark cinematic twist of HydraTek and Spektralisk.
Every patch features a unified macro system (Drive, Tone, Motion, and FX/Space), plus four additional context-sensitive macros. A custom “NIHIL” mod wheel assignment morphs each sound and lets you create warping textures, heavily distorted sounds, and shifting rhythmic elements with a single knob.
The preset bank includes:
- 45 Sequences – Driving rhythms and complex melodic phrases
- 23 Pads & Atmospheres – Brooding textures and evolving soundscapes
- 20 Impacts, Signals & FX – Glitchy transitions, hits, and sci-fi-style signals
- 12 Bass & Lead Sounds – Aggressive tones with a cinematic edge
The preset pack is complemented by a 100-sample WAV library featuring one-shots, drones, and impacts drawn directly from the presets’ core sound design.

I love that the library also includes WAV files, since this lets you mangle and transform these sounds in a sampler. You can use the WAV samples for layering in your DAW or simply load them in a sampler and play them, eliminating the need for Serum 2.
NIHIL is offered in three formats:
- Serum 2 Preset Pack
- Sample Pack (WAV)
- Bundle Deal (Presets + Samples at a discount)
The included sounds are perfect for hybrid trailer music, cinematic underscore and sound design, industrial techno, aggressive drum and bass, dark ambient, or other experimental genres. It’s worth checking out if you like modern sound design with a dark, futuristic attitude.
As an exclusive gift for BPB readers, HydraTek and Spektralisk offer a 30% discount on any version of Nihil until the end of May with code BPB-NIHIL.
They also provided three copies of Nihil for three lucky BPB readers who will receive the full bundle version for free.
