Ablaze has released Screamer, a vocal effects plugin designed specifically for extreme metal vocals.

The plugin targets vocalists working in modern metal and its various subgenres. It aims to bridge the gap between raw vocal takes and the heavily produced vocals heard on commercial metal recordings.
Screamer is the debut release from Ablaze, a new brand created by developers with a decade of experience in plugin development, now shifting focus toward tools for the extreme vocal community.
Screamer’s interface features a single-page layout with three main sections: Control, Thicken, and Flavor.
The Control section includes tools like multiband tone shaping, dynamic control, and tube-style distortion to help refine the vocal tone.
Thicken adds stereo width and presence using a combination of comb filtering and diffusion, while Flavor introduces reverb and delay with auto-ducking to keep vocals up front in the mix.
What stood out to me is Screamer’s focus on speed and user-friendliness. The zero-latency processing makes Screamer suitable for real-time monitoring, and the signal flow is visually mapped out, which helps make the plugin feel more intuitive.
Since I do a lot of cinematic sound design, I had to try Screamer on monster/creature sounds, too. It works pretty well for this purpose, and I think it might find other similar uses outside the heavy metal niche, too.
According to the developer, Screamer is the first step in a broader plan to build a suite of tools for mixing extreme vocals. The upcoming Vocal Assist Bundle is intended to offer additional functionality in a similar user-friendly format.
