Ujam made Hot to deliver pre-processed drum grooves and samples for quickly creating lively, punchy beats for modern chart music.
You can run Hot as a virtual instrument by playing/programming your own custom parts from scratch, or as a loops library, using the prepared phrases.
Hot comes with 100+ global presets, 30 styles, and 23 patterns, making for a total of 690 playable phrases.
You can drag and drop the phrases from Hot to arrange them as needed in your DAW.
There are five drum kits, six mix presets, six reverb modules, and a signature Juice effects control.
Juice allows you to take the drums from a natural sound to a more processed sample, like what you get on popular drum machines.
The six mix presets each have their own effect chain, allowing you to swap out different sonic aesthetics quickly.
To my ears, the sounds on Hot are indeed tuned for modern chart music and would be suitable for pop, hip hop, R&B, and electronic music.
You could even stretch that out to rock and indie music if you’re working with music in those genres with an electronic / pop influence.
It’s not a character library – expect quite familiar beats and sounds here.
I’d also add that all the drum tones are very modern and are, for the most part, quite punchy with a lot of presence, giving an attention-grabbing sound.
Overall, this release would be suitable for a producer who wants to get chart music-style drums done quickly, with a minimum of programming and tone tweaking.
It’d be particularly well-suited for writing and demoing tracks, given the quick and easy tones and beats on tap.
