Voca is a 64-bit only release for macOS (AAX Native, AU, VST3) and Windows (AAX Native, VST3). 

Voca is a vocal processor designed to make producing stunning vocals easy.

The basic idea is to allow you to balance and polish your vocals without using complicated vocal chains. 

Sonnox states the plugin was inspired by 1960s hardware comps like the Universal Audio 1176  and Teletronix LA-2A. 

I find it a tad curious that the devs are primarily drawing inspiration from compressors released circa 60 years ago, yet describe Voca as being made for delivering modern vocals. 

That aside, Sonnox states that Voca is designed for producing polished vocals that can range from bold and upfront to silky and smooth.  

The core task of Voca is to provide versatile compression, while you can also use the saturation controls for adding richness and complexity. 

The Soften control enables you to reduce harshness and sibilance while preserving the vitality of your vocals.

The Auto-Input level is for maintaining steady volume across phrases and sections, saving time and getting balanced vocals. 

Sonnox launched Voca in August 2023 as part of its Toolbox line of plugins. 

Producer Gethin Pearson introduced the plugin for Sonnox via a seven-minute YouTube video, running through how Voca helps him speed up the process of getting a vocal to cut through and sit right in the mix. 

I can see that the way the plugin operates is just as they marketed it, wherein the focus of the interface is 100% on quick and easy adjustments. 

There’s not a whole lot of minutiae to get lost in with the control scheme – the devs have dialed in on delivering a few core functions well and in a no frills format. 

Voca comes with two activations per license, which can be managed with a free iLok account.
