Mike Sorrentino has released DNA Track Purifier, a free Trackspacer-style sidechain dynamic processor designed to reduce frequency masking between competing tracks.
Mike is a musician, composer, producer, and solo developer from Rome, Italy. DNA Track Purifier is his first software release, and it comes as a free plugin with an optional paid PRO version.
The easiest way to describe DNA Track Purifier is as a Trackspacer-style mix cleanup tool. It listens to an external sidechain input, analyzes where that source is most active, and applies dynamic suppression to the main track so the two sounds fight less for the same frequency space.
The concept itself isn’t new, but I love that it has a free tier. Trackspacer-style spectral ducking is useful, and free plugins in this category aren’t exactly everywhere (although I did cover some free Trackspacer alternatives earlier this year).
Typical use cases here would be carving space for a vocal inside a busy instrumental, helping a kick and bass sit together, or making room for a lead element without reaching for static EQ cuts that stay active all the time.
Unlike a broadband sidechain compressor, DNA Track Purifier is designed to duck only the overlapping parts of the spectrum. It uses a State-Variable TPT filter network and a subtraction-based system rather than traditional bell-filter curves to keep the cuts tight and preserve the surrounding material.
Obviously, I wouldn’t call this fix-it-all magic, because mix masking is always context-dependent. But the concept is very useful, and having a free entry point is good news if you have been looking for this kind of workflow without having to buy a commercial alternative first.
The free Basic version lets you control the High Pass, Amount, and Low Pass parameters, and it operates in zero-latency mode.
That should be enough for quick cleanup tasks where you only need to define the active frequency range and decide how much space the sidechain should carve out.
The PRO version unlocks the advanced control panel. It adds lookahead, which introduces latency but can improve transient handling, plus attack and release controls for shaping the ducking response.
PRO also adds selectable PAN or M/S operation modes, giving you more control over where the suppression happens in the stereo field. That could be useful if you want to clean up the center without affecting the sides as much, or handle masking in a more spatial way.
It is available as a VST3 plugin for Windows.
