Sync Audio has released MegaMorph, a plugin host and modulation environment for macOS and Windows, priced at $79.
The new MegaMorph expands on the idea behind MegaMod, which Sync Audio initially offered as a free beta earlier this year.
I liked MegaMod a lot. In fact, I called it my favorite plugin of the year at that point after testing it with some of my go-to sound design tools and enjoying how smoothly it added modulation to another plugin.
MegaMorph builds on the same idea. It attaches a multi-segment envelope generator to a hosted instrument or effect, allowing you to animate virtually any parameter you choose to.
That could mean arpeggiating an EQ band, turning distortion into a rhythmic pattern, or adding movement to a synth patch. Envelopes can target individual parameters or control several points across an entire plugin chain.
The $79 purchase includes three purpose-built versions of MegaMorph, all based on the same envelope-driven modulation system. MegaMorph Instrument hosts virtual instruments and effects; MegaMorph FX processes incoming audio through parallel effect chains; and MegaMorph Warp transforms audio clips you drag into the interface.
Each version adapts the core idea to a different kind of production workflow.
MegaMorph Instrument combines multiple synths, samplers, and effects into what Sync Audio calls a Meta-Instrument. Each layer can run its own envelopes, so the individual parts move in related or contrasting rhythmic patterns. You can build these setups manually or generate a new combination with the randomization function.
MegaMorph FX processes incoming audio through three parallel effects racks. Envelopes can move parameters across several third-party processors instead of relying on multiple DAW automation lanes.

The third version, MegaMorph Warp, handles audio manipulation and sound design. You can drag a clip into the plugin, then draw envelopes for varispeed, pitch shifting, time expansion or compression, and volume.
You can also rearrange the processing order, render in the background, and drag the processed clip back onto the DAW timeline.
Pro Tools users also get an AudioSuite edition. It can apply third-party plugins with envelope movement directly to an audio clip, baking the modulation into the file instead of leaving another insert and several automation lanes in the session.
The current version is 1.0.2, with more factory presets and envelope curves added shortly after launch. The trial downloads directly without an account. Installers are approximately 414 MB for macOS and 210 MB for Windows.
MegaMorph costs $79 / €69 / £59. Until October 7th, it is also being added to the Sync Audio Complete Bundle for new and existing owners without changing the current bundle price of $99 / €89 / £79. The bundle price will increase on October 8th.
Online and offline registration are available without iLok. MegaMorph runs in VST3, AU, and AAX formats on Windows 10 or newer and macOS 10.15 or newer, with native Intel and Apple Silicon support. Standalone and AAX AudioSuite versions are included.
