Audija has released OScope 2, a major update to its beat-synced oscilloscope and spectral analysis plugin for macOS and Windows.
We first covered OScope in 2023, but version 2 is much more capable than the original. The good news is that most of its new single-track analysis features are included in the freeware edition.
OScope 2 Free displays the waveform against a grid synchronized to the host tempo. You can follow playback continuously or align the display with the DAW’s loop region, then freeze it when you want to inspect a particular moment.
Hovering over the display with your cursor gives measurements for sample peaks, time, frequency, musical note, cycle length, and LUFS. There are also analysis-only low-cut and high-cut filters, so you can isolate a frequency range visually without altering the audio passing through the plugin.
And despite the name, this is no longer just an oscilloscope. The free version adds spectral waveform coloring, a spectrogram, and a live spectrum analyzer with adjustable tilt and pivot settings.
Stereo tools include left/right and mid/side waveform views, a goniometer, and a phase correlation meter. The loudness section displays momentary and short-term LUFS histories alongside an integrated reading, and you can inspect earlier values with the cursor.
That is quite a lot for a free analyzer. But if you want more, there’s the paid version.
OScope 2 Full lets instances on different tracks find one another automatically and display their signals in the same window. You can arrange separate lanes, overlay related tracks, create four stack groups, and edit multiple tracks together.
The paid edition can create Sum lanes that visualize the combined signal, revealing where sounds such as a kick and bass reinforce or cancel one another. Spectral collision highlighting marks frequencies shared between tracks, giving you areas to investigate by ear rather than pretending to make the mix decision for you.
Sidechain support is also reserved for the Full edition. The current 2.0.1 update improves how main tracks and their sidechains are grouped and displayed.
OScope 2 Full is available for an introductory price of €19 instead of €38, although Audija has not announced an end date. The purchase includes a lifetime license for five computers and offline activation after downloading the personalized license file.
The freeware download is super simple. Click Download Freeware, choose Windows or macOS, and the installer downloads directly. There is no account, email signup, checkout, license key, or separate plugin manager.
One caution for Mac users: I encountered a Gatekeeper warning while testing the current package, and its macOS signature appears to be invalid. Hopefully, Audija can correct that quickly.
OScope 2 Free is available in VST3 format for 64-bit Windows. macOS 10.15 or later includes VST3 and AU formats with native support for Intel and Apple Silicon.
