Bad Cat Media Group has released The Mini Keys, the first in their new series of free Kontakt and EXS24 instruments featuring different sound sources captured with a humbucker pickup.
Volume #1 in The Pickup Series is The Mini Keys. A tiny toy keyboard with a very distinct 8-bit sound. After sampling this keyboard via our humbucker, we programmed a basic patch for a convincing retro game sound.
The Mini Keys is available for free download via Bad Cat Media Group’s website (5MB download size, NKI and EXS24 mappings included, free registration is required). The Kontakt version requires Kontakt 4.2.4+ or higher (it will work in demo mode in Kontakt Player).
As I’ve already mentioned, The Mini Keys is the first release in an upcoming series of instruments called The Pickup Series. The idea behind this project is to capture various instruments using a humbucker pickup.
