RiverFlux Audio has released PHIXER, a free phase correction plugin for macOS, Windows, and Linux.
PHIXER is designed for stereo basses, synths, and full mixes that lose weight when summed to mono. It is available through Gumroad at a name-your-price rate, with €0 accepted.
We have seen a few interesting phase-related freebies lately, including ConjureAlign, which automatically aligns multi-mic recordings, and KERN’s Check, a spectral mono-compatibility analyzer.
PHIXER takes a somewhat different approach. It analyzes the relationship between the left and right channels and then applies adaptive phase rotation as needed to reduce cancellation.
Low Cut and High Cut controls let you define the frequency range that PHIXER processes. This is pretty useful when the problem is concentrated in the low end, and you do not want to alter the rest of the stereo image.
The large Wet/Dry control lets you adjust the correction strength. The interface also provides a pretty handy phase scope with a four-stage reading that moves from In Phase to Check, and an Alignment meter.
PHIXER is mainly optimized for bass-focused processing and transient protection. There’s also a short tutorial that shows how it doesn’t fix the phasing problem by simply summing the channels. It aims to recover low-end weight while retaining a useful amount of stereo movement.

Phase correction can be easy to overdo, so it’s best to go gentle with this one. Select the troublesome range, adjust the blend while checking the visual feedback, and compare the result in mono.
To download PHIXER for free, enter €0 or a contribution and complete the Gumroad checkout.
PHIXER is available in VST3 and CLAP formats for Windows and Linux. The macOS version supports Intel and Apple Silicon and is available in AU, VST3, and CLAP formats.
