The Coil has released Remnants, a free SFX sample collection featuring a magnificent set of sci-fi sounds and sound effects.
As imprints of a machine apocalypse, residue of cyber machines in disrepair, these sounds range from glitchy machine bits to ghostly vocal traces and evolving rhythmic artifacts intended for complex sound and music projects requiring a dark futuristic aesthetic.
Remnants is available for free download via The Coil (134.5 MB download size, ZIP archive, contains 40 audio samples in 24-bit WAV format).
Please note you’ll need to register for a user account at The Coil in order to get this freebie set. The registration process is completely free and only requires a working email address.
This is one of the best freebie SFX sample libraries I’ve seen in a while. Most of the included samples sound like something you’d expect to hear in a modern blockbuster movie. The variety is also good. You’ll find all sorts of good stuff in this pack, from eerie sonic textures to quick noises and vocal chops. This thing is going straight to my SFX folder!
