Wow… Samplephonics have released Leeds Town Hall Organ, a huge and incredibly detailed sample library featuring the sounds of the Leeds town hall organ formatted for Kontakt, Ableton Sampler, EXS24 and Reason NN-XT.
Within the beautifully decorated town hall of the city of Leeds in England lies this spectacular organ, towering high into the music hall and silencing the sounds of the city with its earth shuddering, rich, harmonic tones. We spent many evenings in the town hall recording every single note with multiple round robins and over 10 second note recordings to capture the true sonic character of the organ.

Samplephonics have done an amazing job at sampling this unique instrument and releasing one of the best free organ sample libraries ever. It sounds magnificent and the fact that it is released as a freebie is absolutely mind blowing.
Let me explain. I enjoy creating sample packs every now and then and releasing them for free (take a look here if you’re interested). The process of creating a sample pack is fun at first, but almost every time it becomes a form of self torture as you come closer to the end. Somewhere along the way, you definitely find yourself wishing you’ve never even started it in the first place.
Recording all the sounds you want to capture, listening to each take over and over and finding the best bits, editing each sound to perfection, creating mappings for popular samplers, it really is a tough process which takes a lot of time and requires some serious motivation.
These guys have sampled each note of this amazing instrument (10 seconds for each note) with multiple round robin variations and created instrument patches for four different samplers. I can’t even imagine how long it took them to finish this project and I’m amazed by how great it sounds. Definitely one of the best freebies in 2014 so far!
