Goldbaby has quietly released another great sounding collection of free drum machine samples. His latest freebie release titled ValveDR220e brings a set of Boss DR-220e drum hits processed with valve gear.
ValveDR220e – Free drums: This pack contains 44 x 24 bit wav drums. Created using a vintage 80s drum machine through valve gear.
The Boss DR-220 drum machine which was used as the sound source for this freebie pack originally came in two different versions. The DR-220e version (featured in Goldbaby’s latest freebie) came with electronic drum sounds, while the DR-220a version included acoustic drum sounds.

Goldbaby took this nifty old drum machine and processed its classic 80s electronic drum hits with high end valve gear for some extra character. All included samples come in four different versions – one clean and three with different amounts of saturation.
The samples are available for use in free and commercial projects, as long as you don’t redistribute the included sounds. You’ll find more info in the text file included in the download pack.
On a related note, Goldbaby has recently released a commercial library titled Thermionic Solid State Drums with 5070 individual drum hits. The library is priced at $49 and it includes samples captured from 11 different drum machines and 6 analogue synthesizers processed with high end gear.
There are no official audio or video demos available for the freebie pack, however here’s a video demonstration of the real Boss DR-220e drum machine to give you an idea about the sounds included in the ValveDR220e drum kit.
