Paper Stone Instruments has released Bounce, a rather unique free collection of percussive sounds made by bouncing different kinds of balls off the ground.
Exercise balls, basket balls, table tennis balls, footballs and others were recorded using 3 mic positions in our Cinematic live room.
The Bounce freebie collection is a small selection of sounds from the much larger Creative Junk sample library, which features over 1 GB of audio material. It’s pretty cool that we’re getting Bounce for free though, given the fact that if contains some rather unusual percussive sounds.
The freebie pack contains 111 individual samples, capturing the sound of different kinds of balls being bounced off the ground. The Paper Stone Instruments sound design team has recorded the sounds of ping pong balls, basketball balls, football balls and tennis balls, in a live room with three different microphones. The resulting library is a totally unique offering on the market, particularly handy if you’re in the mood to create a new basketball commercial.
The included NI Kontakt instrument patch features some useful controls to make the most out of this sample library. The instrument panel makes it possible to switch microphone positions on the fly for each group of samples, as well as to apply some of the built-in effects such as filtering and reverb.
Although the library is formatted for use with NI Kontakt, the individual samples in WAV format are also provided meaning that this sounds can be used in virtually any sampler out there. Take a look at our sampler round-up article for some nice freebie picks from that category.
Please note that you’ll need to be logged in to your Sampleism account in order to download the freebie pack. The easiesy way to connect if you don’t already have an account is to use one of your social network profiles. It takes less than a minute to download the samples this way.
