Free Yamaha DTXPLORER Drum Sample Pack By Neil Paddock

1

Neil Paddock of How To Program Drums has announced the release of DTX – Exploded, the first part in a forthcoming series of Yamaha DTXPLORER drum module sample packs.

Right after the Vintage Drum Elements freebie virtual instrument which we’ve covered yesterday, here’s yet another really cool collection of electronic drum hits for those who want to add a bit of that drum rompler taste to their tracks. Yamaha DTXPLORER is not exactly a vintage drum module, but the drum sounds that come with it still have some of that old school vibe which can work really well in various music styles, from rock and pop music to different styles of electronica and even hip hop.

The sounds of the Yamaha DTXPLORER module were re-sampled by Neil Paddock of How To Program Drums (who we’ve collaborated with before on a couple of free Ensoniq ESQ-1 sound packs) and formatted for use with NI Kontakt and any SFZ compatible instrument. Of course, individual WAV files (16-bit WAV format) are also included.

The DTX – Exploded drum sample library is split into three parts, the first two of which are offered on a pay what you want basis on Neil Paddock’s website and the third being available for purchase at a low price tag. So, first two kits can be downloaded completely free of charge, or you can choose to send a donation to Neil Paddock in order to support his future work on sound packs such as this one. While you’re on his website, take a look at some of his older posts because he’s already released quite a lot of freebies on his website, including the aforementioned Ensoniq ESQ-1 sample packs.

If you’re not familiar with the sound of the Yamaha DTXPLORER drum module, you can watch Neil Paddock’s demo video of the sample pack below, or check out some of the audio demo tracks which are provided on the download page. The sound of these kits reminds me quite a lot of the old Alesis drum modules which were really popular in the 90s. If that’s the kind of drum sound that you’re going for, you should definitely take a closer look at Neil Paddock’s new DTX – Exploded sound collection.
