Smhertz has announced the release of Artificial Vinyl Drums Vol. 1, a free (YouTube account required) collection of original drum loops that were processed to sound as if they were sampled from old vinyl records.
The thing with old school drum breaks that are sampled from vinyl records is that they sound awesome, however using them in commercial releases can turn out to be rather complicated from the legal perspective. On the other hand, it’s very hard to properly emulate that vintage vinyl crunch and sparkle in the box, even with the latest and greatest tools in the VST plugin world. It is possible though, and this brand new release by Smhertz goes to show that the results can be breathtakingly good.

The end result is notihng short of impressive, as it’s almost impossible to tell whether the loops were sampled from actual vinyl records or not. These drum loops sound fat, punchy and authentically vintage. Of course, the best thing about the release is that the included drum loops are 100% royalty free, so there’s are no copyright issues to worry about.
Artificial Vinyl Drums Vol. 1 contains 21 drum loops in total, provided in 24-bit WAV format. The loops are clearly labeled with genre and BPM info, which is very helpful when importing them into your DAW or sampler of choice.
