EDM Labs has introduced Trumpet Improv, a free sound collection containing a set of 25 royalty free trumpet ensemble loops in WAV format.
Trumpet Improv contains 25 different trumpet loops, however a few of them are provided in both dry and wet (with added reverb) versions, adding up to 33 files in total. All of the loops are provided in 16-bit WAV format.

These generally sound much nicer than the rest of the pack, which is in mono. The included loops are rather cool and groovy for the most part, though, with some really neat licks and short melodies that are sure to inspire. I can see this pack being used in a lot of hip hop and house records, after a bit of editing and recycling.
There’s no information about how and where these loops were recorded. The sound quality is a bit lo-fi, but overall I’d be more than happy to use these in my music. Especially since it’s so hard to find decent quality trumpet loops for free. Of course, if you need good trumpet loops for free, your #1 stop should be Mihai Sorohan’s website.
If you’d prefer to create your own trumpet loops, check out the free Van Houzen Trumpet by Kurt M. Landre and Sika Oriental Scale by Human Touch Technology. There are plenty of commercial solutions out there, though, including the Garritan Personal Orchestra 5 and Miroslav Philharmonik 2, both of which were recently reviewed on our website.
