Black Rooster Audio has introduced Cypress TT-15, a free virtual guitar amplifier in VST, AU, and AAX plugin formats for compatible digital audio workstations on PC and Mac.
Cypress TT-15 is a detailed emulation of the Orange TT15 Tiny Terror amp head, featuring an almost identical control scheme and a very similar tone. Black Rooster Audio’s virtual recreation of the original also features an optional 2×12 cabinet simulation which can be bypassed in case you prefer using third party cabinet simulators and/or cabinet impulse responses.
The plugin uses a component-based circuit simulation algorithm to create an authentic virtual copy of the original hardware. Auto-adjusted oversampling (based on the project’s sample rate) is also included, eliminating aliasing artifacts while preventing unnecessary CPU consumption.
Please note that you’ll need to register for a free Black Rooster Audio user account in order to download and activate your copy of Cypress TT-15 (a valid email address is required). Once registered, you’ll be able to download the EXE installer which contains Cypress TT-15 and three other Black Rooster Audio plugins (two of which are demo versions of commercial software). These additional plugins can be deselected during installation.
After completing the installation process and launching Cypress TT-15 for the first time, you’ll be prompted to activate the plugin on your computer. For some reason, the online activation process wasn’t working for me (I kept getting the “wrong password” error, even though the password was 100% correct), so I opted for offline activation instead. That went smoothly – simply copy the Device ID generated by the installer and paste it in your user account area to generate the serial number.
Cypress TT-15 is available for free download via Black Rooster Audio (77.9 MB download size, ZIP archive containing EXE installer, 32-bit & 64-bit VST/AU/AAX plugin formats for Windows & Mac OS).
