Beatmatch.info has released EDM Drums, a free collection of one-shot drum samples formatted for use with Ableton Live and NI Maschine (also contains WAV and AIFF samples).
The EDM Drums library was originally released as an exclusive freebie for Beatmatch.info newsletter subscribers a few months ago, but the product is now freely available on their website so that anyone can download it. The download pack contains a set of 60 royalty-free drum samples designed for use in various electronic dance music genres, along with a set of patches for loading the samples in Ableton Live and NI Maschine.
The provided samples are definitely very good, although not exactly mind-blowing (check out the current Wave Alchemy drum bundle deal at VSTBuzz for some insanely good electronic drum hits). The samples included in EDM Drums are solid, well-made drum hits that will sound good in a mix without much additional tweaking. What’s also cool is that the drum hits were synthesized from scratch to be used in this pack, so you’re getting 100% original drum sounds that you won’t find anywhere else.
The main advantage of the pack, though, is the optimized workflow that you can take advantage of if you use the provided Live and Maschine patches. It’s evident that a lot of effort went into making these kits easy and fun to play with, as shown in the official demo video embedded at the top of this page. The pack comes with four different kits and sixteen demo projects to help users get started with building their own custom sets and remixes. Macro controls are also provided for quick and easy manipulation of the included drum hits.
EDM Drums is available for free download via Beatmatch.info (26.2 MB download size, ZIP archive, contains 60 audio samples in 24-bit WAV/AIFF formats, patches for Ableton Live & NI Maschine).
