Free faSampleDelay VST/AU Plugin Announced By Forward Audio (BETA)

10

Forward Audio has announced the beta version of faSampleDelay, a forthcoming freeware phase alignment utility in VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin formats for compatible host applications on PC and Mac. Users who sign up now will be able to download the public beta version of the plugin for free on March 23rd, 2018.

To avoid any confusion, faSampleDelay will be a freeware plugin, meaning that you’ll be able to download and use it for free even if you don’t sign up right now. But if you’re anxious to give it a try in your digital audio workstation of choice, signing up for the beta version in advance is the fastest route. Being that faSampleDelay is yet to be released, I didn’t get the chance to test it before publishing this article. Instead of a proper review, here’s a quick look at the UI design and the features listed on the product page.

Forward Audio describes faSampleDelay as a phase alignment tool with “an unrivaled intuitive GUI.” Judging by the screenshots, the plugin does indeed seem user-friendly and easy to use. The main control is the Delay knob which determines the amount of delay introduced to the processed audio track. The delay time can be measured in four different units (milliseconds, feet, meters, and samples) based on the user’s preference and usage scenario. The range of the delay knob can be calibrated by defining the minimum and maximum delay times, increasing its resolution and thus allowing for more precise adjustments.

The plugin supports project sample rates between 44.1 kHz and 192 kHz, whereas the delay amount is linkable to the sample rate. In addition to the previously mentioned features, faSampleDelay also offers A/B comparison capabilities and a freely resizable user interface. The internal delay algorithm is optimized for minimal CPU consumption.

So, if you’re looking for a simple utility for solving phasing issues in your projects, faSampleDelay is definitely worth checking out. Simply sign up on the product page linked below to receive your free copy of the plugin on March 23rd this year. If you need a freeware phase alignment tool before then, try the MFreeFormPhase plugin by MeldaProduction.

faSampleDelay is available for free download via Forward Audio (32-bit & 64-bit VST/VST3/AU/AAX plugin formats for Windows & macOS).

awesome! a great tool for providing more space in your mix, a small amount of nearly undetectable delay (to the average ear) can help move elements of a mix out of the way of other elements (creating space and openness) Logic has a built in feature for this, but very few other DAWs do, this free plug will most definitely be a staple of my mixes when it is released!

    • I did get 2 email, first was to activate account and second with download links and faSampleDelay.beta file on a bottom of second email

  2. I’ve just spent 20 minutes jumping through hoops for a free license that doesn’t materialize.
it states ” get the download links and a free license via email”. Nothing as stated received via email. The process is not working at my end.
It currently seems to be aimed at subscription/registration. I got sent round in circles, I’m sure it’s a glitch, or it might just be a error at my end of things.
    Hope the problem gets resolved.
I’ll give it a miss, not worth the hassle.

  3. I had my problem resolved, the issue was at my end of things.
Hats off to the developer, I got a swift reply and resolution, thanks.

  4. Wait, didn’t they release these tools for free once? (checks backlogs on HDD) Indeed they did: faSampleDelay and faFractionalDelay… once released as freeware in v0.9x and Windows only, with a campaign to “donate to get Mac ports”.

Now these traces are gone, and instead we get a new page with a “free” faSampleDelay (as taster) and an announced 49USD commercial faTimeAlign.

    Nice…

    Logic 10.2.4 – Yosemite 10.10.3 – mid-2012 MacBook Air
System didn’t like plugin, had to remove all traces, including vst before logic would re-open properly.

    – Thanks anyway, looks like a useful plugin, – but once bitten…
