QFX Color By 2B Played Music Is FREE Until October 16th

2B Played Music offers the QFX Color (€17 value) one-knob plugin as a FREE download until October 16th.

I consider one-knob plugins a classic example of a love-it-or-hate-it concept.

Some producers love plugins with dozens of control parameters so they can fine-tune every little detail. Others (myself included) love streamlined plugins that let you transform the audio by moving a single knob.

Obviously, if a one-knob plugin does its job well, it will significantly speed up your mixing workflow. I also find them valuable for sound design. Some of my favorite sound design tools are essentially one-knob plugins (Softube Saturation Knob and Finisher Micro, to name a couple).

If you find the concept useful, QFX Color is another interesting one-knob plugin you can consider adding to your production toolkit.

QFX Color is part of 2B Played Music’s bundle of one-knob plugins called QFX One Series. It is an analog-style filter designed to color the sound by replicating the non-linear behavior of analog studio equipment.

The control layout is simple, although you do actually get to adjust more than a single knob.

Apart from the main Cutoff knob, the plugin also lets you select the Resonance and Tone modes.

There are five resonance settings to choose from, ranging from almost completely flat to ear-piercingly aggressive. The Tone selection seems to affect the plugin’s non-linear behavior, although I didn’t notice much in the way of saturation and coloring while using it.

All things considered, I wouldn’t say QFX Color is a must-have plugin. It sounds decent, but I haven’t noticed anything special about its processing. On the other hand, if you like filters and one-knob plugins, it’s worth getting for free.

QFX Color typically costs €17, but you can get it for free until October 16th. To get the deal, add QFX Color to the shopping cart on 2B Played Music’s website and apply the coupon code GOTOKNOB at checkout.

Act fast, though, because the offer expires in a few days. I missed a fair amount of limited-time freebies by thinking, “Okay, I’ll download this one tomorrow morning,” and then forgetting all about it.

Another incredible limited-time offer you shouldn’t miss is Universal Audio’s LA-2A, which can be yours for free if you claim it before October 31st.

QFX Color is available in VST3 and AU plugin formats for Windows and macOS (supports Apple silicon).

  1. Some of my favourite plugs have very sparse controls. If it sounds good, it is good.

A headsup…Cymatics just released a free plugin called Dejavu.

  2. Was pretty stoked for it, but the site runs bizarrely slow and the installer keeps timing out as a attempt to enter the key. Will try some more, but unfortunately so far no dice
