Developer Mannix Squared has released Super Saturator, an intuitive and free saturation plugin for macOS and Windows.
We recently covered Mix Space, a free plugin that helps identify and resolve frequency clashes between tracks in your mix.
Plugins that provide a simple and effective solution for a common and tedious problem are always well-received by users, and as such, Mix Space garnered a very positive response.
The forward-thinking developer Mannix Squared is back with another free plugin, Super Saturator.

Super Saturator doesn’t solve a problem like Mix Space does, but it takes an innovative approach to apply saturation, which we all do regularly when making music.
The new saturation plugin is intuitive but incredibly straightforward at the same time. The simple interface shows the main Drive knob with In/Out meters on either side.
Super Saturator enriches your sound with even harmonics; it can get fuzzy and crunchy, but it’s not overly aggressive.
The tone remains on the warm, luxurious side of saturation even when you really crank the Drive knob. If you want a rich and velvety tone, Super Saturator has that in the bag, but the true character of this plugin comes from the second control, the Frequency knob.
Super Saturator features an intuitive filter that takes the plugin from warm saturation to something more transformative. The Frequency knob allows you to set the exact frequency at which the saturation is applied (50Hz – 2kHz).
Not long ago, we looked at Krunch, a filter and saturation effect utilizing the One Euro Filter algorithm, where the filter responded directly to the Krunch dial.
With the Frequency knob, Super Saturator provides precision control that generates such interesting tones.
At lower frequency settings, you get a full-bodied tone; it’s warm and inviting. The sound is thinner and sharper at higher frequency settings.
With some sources, pushing the Frequency knob all the way or close is really lovely because you can maintain the initial depth of the instrument but add this subtle but gorgeous crispness above.
What I like most about Mannix Squared as a developer so far is the focus on getting from point A to point B with minimum fuss. Of course, the quality of the effect in question is always a priority, but plugins that help us get there faster or provide an alternative approach will always stand out.
To download the free plugin, you must subscribe to the developer’s blog (give your email), where you can keep up to date with all things Mannix Squared.
Super Saturator is available in AU and VST3 formats for macOS and Windows (installed on macOS 14.4.1 with no issues).
We also recommend checking out our free BPB Saturator plugin for a different take on tube and tape saturation.
