Plugin Boutique offers either Softube VCA Compressor or Imaginando K7D Delay for FREE with any purchase this month.
It’s a new month in music production, and as per usual, Plugin Boutique is offering a free plugin with any paid purchase in August. This month, you can choose between Softube’s VCA Compressor and Imaginando’s K7D Delay as part of the Summer Gifts offer lasting until September 1st.
Softube VCA Compressor has actually been temporarily free before. But it is a $150 plugin, and if you missed it last time, now is a great time to pick it up when you make another purchase on Plugin Boutique.
VCA Compressor is described as “quirky and characterful.” It is modeled after classic hardware units known for hard knee compression and analog saturation.
It is capable of producing a wide range of sounds, from gently gluing sounds together to the “pumping” effect that comes with extreme compression.
The UI is well-designed and user-friendly, with the left panel giving you the standard compression controls (threshold, ration, attack, release).
In the middle, it has some unique features that offer more sonic possibilities. For example, stereo link, which is always a nice feature on compressor plugins or sidechain filtering.
It also has VU meters, an output drive, and a mix knob which are always great to see on compressors.
Imaginando K7D Delay normally goes for $40, however, you can get it for free with any purchase this month.
It is a vintage-style tape delay plugin with additional features such as modulation. It’s got a simple but sleek UI which makes it very easy to use.
At first glance, it reminds me of a Varispeed delay unit, and it has a lot of the same sound characteristics.
You’ve got your standard delay controls like time, feedback, and tempo sync, as well as some modulation features.
Additionally, You can use an LFO to control delay time, and filters. And if you’ve ever messed around with delay time on a guitar pedal while playing, you will know that it can create trippy sounds that way. Fun stuff!
It also comes with a “character” module where you can dial in tape flutter and wow, as well as ping pong width. This can add a lot more vibe to the delayed sound.
Softube VCA Compressor runs on Windows and macOS machines as a VST2, VST3, AU, or AAX plugin.
Imaginando K7D Delay is a VST2, VST3, and AU plugin for 64-bit Windows and macOS as well as iOS devices.

ondid you select one free plugin during checkout?
JJ
onI wasn’t offered one as far as I know, went back and forth the checkout process. But it was late, could be a human error as well.

onIf the Imaginando delay is anything like 2 of their FRMS and DRC synths, avoid. Their capabilities are okayish, but they require logging in for every time of use and have a bug the team don’t seem motivated to sort: Each log in (on the same system) is erroneously treated as a different but identically named machine. So the user hits the maximum number of machines threshold using just one and must log in to their website too, repeatedly, to delete the identical listings or it is blocked into annoying demo mode. A complete pain which makes them impractical in any motivated workflow. They are not worth the hassle. It’s pathetic that they need so much nannying when paid for. There should be a basic function their end which registers the same machine’s repeated log-ins, as happens with more professional companies like UAD etc.

onThx for sharing, nobody faced the same problem?

onHi Rox Roll, Imaginando say it is a known problem for ‘some users’ and there doesn’t seem to be any workaround except going into your account on their site, selecting the one or more softwares you have from their list, then deleting all listed machines so you can log in several times until you need to do it all over again. In effect, it’s a time wasting hassle so I don’t really bother with using Imaginando products I bought. They really need to sort it. A little bit of code their server end could recognise duplicate machines and not list as a new machine … but no. They seem to avoid that obvious solution and expect the customer to have the hassles.
