Strongroom Studios has released their first-ever sample packs, and you can get them all for free on Bandlab Sounds.
We’ve featured Bandlab on BPB previously, as they own Cakewalk, a very powerful free DAW, used by many producers.
Bandlab Sounds is another service they offer, where you can download 100% royalty-free samples for use in your productions. The packs include both loops and one-shots.
You can use the sounds you download in the DAW of your choice or Bandlab’s online DAW, Bandlab Studio. And you also get a preview of the pack before downloading, which is great.
Strongroom Studios is known for hosting artists like Lorde, Dua Lipa, Charli XCX, and Radiohead. And now, let’s take a look at their first-ever sample packs.
TATYANA is a pack they’ve made with UK-based producer Tatyana. It contains “soft synths, polished drum machine beats, and charming harp progressions.”
It also has some more experimental one-shots, like a rattlesnake and a rubber band, that I think are interesting.
They have two Breaks & Beats sample packs, Vol 1 and Vol 2. The samples were produced by Drew Bang and played by drummer Christina Lopez, and they sound fantastic.
Drum breaks are a staple in electronic music and with these 2 packs, you get a variety of them at different tempos in Vol 1.
You also get on shots in Vol 2 which can be used for programming your own parts.
NAMES: Indie Bangers is a collaboration between Grammy-nominated producer Carlos Mas and Tom Davies of “Names”.
The pack includes a variety of samples, from soaring guitar parts to bouncy drums, bass lines, and more. The sounds have a ton of character and grit, perfect for indie rock and the like.
Jelly Cleaver’s Smooth Soul features tasteful guitar sounds and electric piano melodies and textures.
There are a variety of styles in this pack, from “underwater” type sounds, to more funky and even distorted guitar riffs.
Alex O’Donovan: Of Texture features lush soundscapes created by producer and engineer Alex O’Donovan.
This sample pack is very experimental and has anything from deep basses and risers to alien-like textures and electronic drum one-shots.
And last but not least, they have Fi Roberts: prepared piano.
Prepared piano is an experimental concept where a piano is modified by adding objects like screws and rubber between the strings.
London-based composer Fi Roberts has created a wide variety of prepared piano one-shots, which are perfect for soundtracks, pop music, and more.
