IK Multimedia is giving away free copies of its Orange OR120 amp and matching cab sim to AmpliTube 5 CS users during August.
The company has been giving away a new amp each month for the second half of 2024 for users of its free AmpliTube 5 CS guitar rig software platform.
For August, IK Multimedia is giving away an officially certified Orange OR120 amp and Orange PPC412 4×12″ cabinet.
The Orange amp sim giveaway is supposedly only for new AmpliTube 5 CS users who signed up in August.
However, there is a method that allows existing AmpliTube 5 CS users to access the Orange amp freebie.
Thank you to Bedroom Producers Blog user Ryujin A., who described the method in the comments for our coverage of the June giveaway.
The method involves unauthorizing AmpliTube in the IK Multimedia Product Manager, reauthorizing the software, then “Refresh your purchase (the circle icon next to your username) and it’ll be added in. Restore your purchase in CustomShop if you haven’t already, just to make sure.”
Several other Bedroom Producers Blog users reported that this method worked for them.
However, please note that it may not work for everyone. Read the comment thread linked above for some additional tips from BPB users about how to get a stubborn account to recognize the freebie.
You can also see IK Multimedia’s instructions on the basic procedure to redeem the amp freebie in the link to the giveaway announcement below.
The Orange OR120 120-watt tube amp was originally manufactured from 1972 until 1981.
The amp, with its minimalist five-knob control scheme, is one of the most iconic and sought-after Orange designs.
Notable users include luminaries such as Jimmy Page, Pete Townshend, Kevin Shields, and Omar Rodriguez Lopez.
AmpliTube 5 CS is a 64-bit only Windows and macOS release, which comes bundled with 42 pedals, amps, cabinets, mics, and rack FX units.
IK Multimedia is also running a prize giveaway for AmpliTube 5 CS users.
Users who have installed the software will go into the draw for bundle giveaways, which will be drawn on January 2, 2025.
The grand prize winner will win an Axe I/O, ToneX Pedal, and Total Studio 4 Max.
The ‘first place’ winner will receive an Axe I/O One, ToneX One, Mesa Reference and Metal Gems.
The ‘second-place’ winner will win an iRig HD X and Metal Gems.
Stay tuned for further monthly amp sim giveaways from IK Multimedia, as there are still four more monthly amp giveaways to be announced for the year.

onHere to say unauthorize reauthorize has worked
Jeffery Wright
onUpdated all my IK stuff, did the unatho / reautho, Restore your purchase … still nothing… what a shame. That’s alright, all their TR5 tools always crash my DAW, every time, so I don’t use any of my IKM products any more and would never buy anything from them again. There are better products out there.
oh cat
onIK’s products sound great, but their customer service sucks and I wouldn’t buy anything from them.
James
onReauth trick worked for me.
Saxophone
onI think that worked, gave me a notice that once authorized both OR-120 and 4×12 PPC 412 were added.
alex
onIt worked but this time I had to go to Custom Shop to “refresh your purchases” or whatever it’s called to make the plug show up, which meant I had to install Custom shop first :) But that’s OK. Their plugs are really good.
Heiner
onI did exactly as Alex described. Everything went well. What’s good is that I now have the Orange amplifier and the box in Amplitube 4.
Dave
onI tried a bunch of times, restarted computer, refreshed purchases, but nothing. IK used to give away these freebies to everyone, including existing users. Why the change?
Dave
on*Solved* Maybe my issue was due to another Amplitude authorization on another computer. I deauthorized all my IK stuff on my other Mac and I got notifications that the Orange amp was added. So I verified with my main music rig and it was there as well.
scanmine
onRemember to de-authorize EVERY instance of Amplitube on the EACH computer you have it installed on, or else the free monthly amp will not show up if you’re an existing Amplitube user. This is probably worth mentioning in the posts going forward. Cheers!
Manu
onHow to de- or unauthorize an instance of amplitube on a computer you don’t have access to?
Bob
onYou can’t
scanmine
onYeah, to the best of my knowledge you can’t de-authorize a computer you don’t have access to anymore. It’s a bummer. I made sure to only have one instance authorized currently.
Dave
onAgreed there.
Stephen Charlton
onThanks :)

onTo summarize the process
1. Open IK Multimedia Product Manager
2. Unauthorize AmpliTube 5 CS
3. Authorize AmpliTube 5 CS
* IMPORTANT *
* This will only work when you don’t have Amplitube 5 CS authorized on a dead computer
* The computer you’re currently using should be the only one using/authorized Amplitube 5 CS
* It is not possible to restore your authorisation from a dead computer (I’ve contacted IK Multimedia for this)
Hope this makes the process clear and what to expect.
Tom
onI contacted support to take care of my dead computer and they said they can’t do anything.
This is just dumb.
Stephen Charlton
onThank you for the step by step guide. I’ll mention these details in the next giveaway article.
