Another month, another IK Multimedia freebie! Throughout October IK Multimedia is giving away four bass guitar freebies for AmpliTube 5 CS.
This month, the company is giving away the following AmpliTube 5 CS products: Ampless Bass Driver (based on Tech 21’s SansAmp), SVX Compressor, SVX-CL bass head, and 4×10 SVX-410S bass cab.
IK Multimedia is really ramping up the freebies heading towards the end of the year, as earlier in the year, we just got one amp per month.
The giveaways are all for AmpliTube 5 CS, a free 64-bit-only guitar and bass workstation for macOS and PC.
Let’s take a look at the bass goodies IK Multimedia is offering this month.
The Ampless Bass Driver is based on Tech 21’s classic SansAmp, which was originally introduced in 1989.
IK Multimedia’s digital version has the same core control scheme as the SansAmp hardware stomp, so it’ll be very familiar to users.
The Tech 21’s SansAmp was my go-to bass stomp for live shows for years, and it’s excellent at everything from making your tone cut through more, to thickening things up, as well as overdrives and more growly distortions.
IK Multimedia aims to provide the same applications with the digital version.
The SVX Compressor is modeled after a vintage comp stomp pedal and can add sustain and a powerful comp with plenty of character.
The SVX-CL is based on the Ampeg SVT-CL Classic amp head model. Like the Ampless Bass Driver, the control scheme is quite faithful to the original hardware unit.
The SVT-CL Classic is an all-tube bass head that produces a warm, rich, and punchy tone that’s an iconic sound for rock bass.
Rounding out the giveaway is the 4×10 SVX-410S, which is based on Ampeg’s SVT-410H bass cab, and has an adjustable HF driver.
The October promo is the latest in a series of monthly giveaways for AmpliTube 5 CS that IK Multimedia is running for the second half of 2024.
IK Multimedia intends for these giveaways to be only accessible to new users, however, there is a workaround to get the gear on your account if you are an existing user.
To get your mitts on the free gear with an existing account, open your IK Multimedia Product Manager, unauthorize AmpliTube 5 CS, and then re-authorize AmpliTube 5 CS.
To make this method work, ensure that your current computer is the only one that has Amplitube 5 CS authorized.
Unfortunately, this method will not work if you have a dead computer with an authorized version of Amplitube 5 CS on it, and there does not seem to be a workaround for this problem.
Thanks again to the BPB users who mentioned this method in the comments in previous months.
If you’re a new user, you can access the freebies by following the instructions on IK Multimedia’s announcement page for the October giveaway linked below.

onRegardless of the freebies, it’s ridiculous that a company doesn’t allow to deauthorize licenses on another system…
alex
onWell, you can deauthorize licenses and move them from one machine to another but since you do it from the IK Software Manager, once your computer is dead you can’t do it anymore and you lose one set of licenses. Actually, many companies do that. I’ve lost multiple sets of Plugin Alliance licenses because of that or just because of replacing a dying HD – once you do any hardware changes the machine doesn’t get recognized anymore as well as if you make a fresh Windows install (I’m pretty sure PA does that on purpose because some time ago when I had a system crash and had to do a fresh install literally all companies including IK Multimedia recognized the machine except for PA 🙄). Now, some companies will reset your licenses if you contact them and some, like the two mentioned above, won’t. So, it is what it is…
PureFire
onMaybe see if this works to get your PA licences back
support.plugin-alliance.com/hc/en-us/articles/9760010939037-How-do-I-deactivate-my-computer
You can deactivate your machine on the plugin-alliance.com website. Just log in to your account and go to Manage Devices. You will see a list of your activated devices, with a “Deactivate” button next to each one.
Thanks Stephen, BPB & IK
alex
onSure, but that only means you can activate and deactivate machines so that you can use plugins on three machines at the same time. You can have switch between seven machines that way, but once authorized on a machine your licenses are stuck on it and you can use them until that machines works. When you try to authorize your plugins for the eighth time you’ll be asked to buy a new license. The only way you can really use your licenses on any machine for as long as you want is to install them on a flash drive. That’s what they offer as a solution. I don’t like it, but, still fair enough.
PureFire
onI didn’t know about the 7 machines limit, thats good to know.
Flash drive seems a pain but yeah, thats a fair option to save the annoyance of needing to buy the same things twice, especially if you have a lot of plugins.
Thinking a flash drive would be ideal if it can be used as a safety net to save 1 activation from each plugin straight after a new purchase.
alex
onExactly. Also, there are other companies that offer that possibility, like Overloud (but they let you have two machines active at the same time, don’t take your license away when you deactivate a machine and let you have an additional license on a flash drive but a dead machine remains a problem, of course). So, one can have all the licenses from various companies together on a single flash drive. I imagine that can be convenient for people who work a lot in other people’s studios that maybe don’t have all the plugins they use.
mx
oni would say that is one part of the idea behind an ilok dongle.
alex
onYeah, it kinda is, but a really tiny part (still really annoying and inconvenient to me) – if you use an iLok dongle you need to at least have iLok drivers installed and probably the iLok manger too if you want to always have the latest version of drivers so that your iLok doesn’t suddenly stop working when you update something else on your system. OTOH, if you have the iLok manager only, you have to be connected to the internet for it to work. Now, when I think of it, a flash drive is totally acceptable to me :))))
Sagar EX
onyou can deauthorize your Plugin Alliance licenses from their websites
Alex
onHonestly, I’m just using a separate new account. Because if I want to access, pretty sure the system is granted 48 hours when “not connected to internet” so I can just sign in and out and use for my production. Commit, done.
alex
on48 hours is for subscriptions only. I have some free, some paid IK Multimedia plugs and I’m never logged into IK Software Manager unless I have to install or update something.
DB
onWorked great, thanks for that!
Alex
onHey All:
Want to confirm… If you have full Amplitube 5 installed, not the CS version, you cannot claim these freebies, even if you de-Authorize all computers, correct?
Thanks!
Stephen Charlton
onLast month, a BPB reader said in the comments that they were able to access the September freebie with a full Amplitube 5 account.
I would give it a try.
Here’s the article where they mentioned it in the comments:

onI forgot to include the latest update when I submitted the article request.
AmpliTube also recently got updated to v5.10 (branded as “5X”, as of today is v5.10.1, including bugfixes for the initial 5.10.0); which bring in better TONEX integration (their own Kemper-like stomps and amps profile, i.e. NAM, Kemper, Line6, 4Cortex, etc.) – and later in November, a new update for TONEX standalone app, which brings profiling for time-based (reverb, delay) and modulation (chorus, rotary, phaser, flanger) pedals.
With TONEX along with AmpliTube, you can expect up to 25 extra amps (with and without cabinets, can be bypassed inside the amp module) and 5 extra stompboxes, out of the box, along with free 20 user-made profiles download to keep.

onThanks for the update :)

onHi,
I IK Mult..Product Manager in notifications I have all the freebies registered. But in ApliTube I don’t see the Ampless Driver anywhere.
Anybody had similar issue?
Piotr
onOk. After restoring purchases the issue was resolved.
James
onAny other advice on how to get this Ampless Driver to register?
nobody
onI’d been in same case. When look at IK manager, I found Amplitude CS was old version. After updating AmplitudeCS(maybe uninstalled at update?) on IK manager, I got it.
Haist
onI’m not sure if these plugins are really meant to be freebies for everyone. IKs website says they are for new users. The reauthorization trick works, though, and sometimes you get new plugins after an update. It’s hard to tell what is intended and what is a bug.
James
onHi, anyone else had this issue – 3 of the 4 plugins are registered. However, Ampless Bass Driver didn’t, I’ve tried reauthorising several times.
Thanks

onIK Multimedia ‘support’ REFUSES to allow me to de-authorize an old dead computer. So there’s no way I can take advantage of anything like this. What a worthless company support.
