Pitch Innovations has released Fluid Chords 2, an improved version of its award-winning MIDI FX plugin for bending chords in expressive new ways.
Fluid Chords 2 introduces a suite of new features, including a hybrid sound engine, real-time chord bending, and enhanced creative tools for crafting harmonically rich progressions.
The original Fluid Chords made waves in 2022, earning the MIDI Innovation Award and becoming a favorite inspirational tool for many producers working in electronic, cinematic, and experimental music.
With Fluid Chords 2, Pitch Innovations builds on that momentum, offering more control, more flexibility, and a deeper integration of sound design.
The big headline here is the new hybrid sound engine, which combines a Wavetable Synth with an expressive MPE Sampler. It also supports hosting third-party MPE-capable VSTs, letting you blend between organic and synthetic textures.
A built-in FX section includes tools like Pumper, Reverb, Delay, and Compression to further shape your sound.
One of the most exciting updates for me is the Real-Time Mode. You can now bend between chords using just your MIDI keyboard, without using the sustain pedal. It’s a massive workflow improvement and opens up live performance possibilities that weren’t really viable before.
The new Harmony Engine lets you quickly generate genre-based chord progressions by selecting a key and genre. It’s intuitive, surprisingly smart, and great for jumpstarting ideas when you hit a creative wall.
Chord bending is now smarter and more expressive, too. Strum mode bends notes sequentially for a natural transition, while Flow mode offers detailed control over how chords resolve. You can assign up to 16 trigger keys (double the original), meaning more complex progressions at your fingertips.
Other workflow enhancements include the new Split & Play mode, which lets you play melodies with your right hand while triggering bends with your left, and an auto-mapping feature that assigns chords from MIDI files to trigger keys instantly.
Fluid Chords 2 is available now for $49 as an introductory offer (valid until July 18, 2025). It supports VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin formats and runs on Windows 10+ and macOS 10.13+.
