Audio Assault releases FREE BassTR bass guitar amp plugin

Audio Assault releases Bass Locker and the free BassTR bass guitar amp for macOS, Windows, and Linux.

Audio Assault’s Bass Locker is an all-in-one toolbox for bassists. It combines a collection of bass amps, cabs, pedals/effects, and various room types.

Bass Locker is similar to IK Multimedia’s AmpliTube SVX 2 in that it is a one-stop hub for all bass settings.

Like AmpliTube and other collections, Bass Locker includes amp models and pedals that aren’t free, with the option to purchase/activate licenses. License management is all within the plugin, and you’ll get access to demo versions of models you don’t own.

BassTR is free, and you have full access to it immediately after the quick installation.

BassTR, on its own, is a pretty straightforward bass amp with Drive, Level, Bass, Low Mid/High Mid, Treble, and Master controls.

It comes with some handy presets, including clean, punchy, modern, and distorted tones.

But, in the context of Bass Locker, BassTR becomes much more versatile as you can fine-tune each stage of your chain.

Bass Locker allows you to position pedals/effects before and after the amp and cab combo. You’ll have to pay to activate some pedals, but Bass Locker features a decent selection of free pedals and effects from EQ and compression to the famous green screamer pedal.

On the subject of free effects, I recommend grabbing UJAM’s UFX Reverb while it’s free for gated and reverse reverb aplenty (the offer ends October 31st).

The Cab page lets you change the cabinet model and type from a selection of emulations. Some emulations have amusing names, like the Finder Rumble410 and the Citrus OBC410.

You can also change the room type on the same page with options that deliver both run-of-the-mill, luxurious, and grungier sounds.

Room types include Empty Garage, Untreated Room, Cave, Drum Room, Bath, Concert Hall, Subway, and Old Factory.

Bass Locker lets you adjust the microphone position and choose from a collection of dynamic, condenser, and ribbon microphones.

Bass Locker is available in 64-bit AU, VST, VST3, and AAX formats for macOS, Windows, and Linux.
