Audialab’s Deep Sampler 2 natural language AI sampler is out now, featuring a $299 Pro version and a free version.
Rather strangely, the developer does not list the operating system(s) the plugin is currently available for on the product page.
Back in July 2024, Audialab revealed that Deep Sampler 2 is a macOS-exclusive release (10.13 and later), with Windows and Linux versions planned for the future. However, the free version is now available on Windows, too (thanks to BPB reader Ian for the info).
The free version dropped in July, and currently, the new development is the release of the Pro version. Both versions are currently in alpha.

Deep Sampler 2 is a natural language AI sample generator. You can type in prompts, similar to ChatGPT, but instead of text responses, the plugin generates audio samples.
If you like what the AI generates, you can drag and drop the audio into your DAW and integrate it into your music.
Audialab produced a YouTube demo showcasing how the free edition of the plugin works.

In the video, a producer, using the Infinite Piano model, types in the prompt “dark creepy melody C#min 140bpm”. The AI then dutifully produces some audio in response, quite accurately matching the written prompt.
A second demo of the plugin that Audialab created is somewhat less convincing. In the second demo, a producer says he’s turning a vocal loop into a flute sample with the AI.

I’m listening to the before and after of the audio in the second demo, and it’s a little hard to tell what the AI actually did if anything. Several other viewers noticed it as well, commenting on how little the output sounded like a flute.
If Deep Sampler 2 is capable of operating a bit more like what was shown in the first demo rather than the second demo, then it could be really useful.
There’s not much available in the way of user demos showcasing the plugin at this point either.
Given that the plugin is free though, it could definitely be well worth a download if you want to integrate this kind of AI functionality into your workflow.
The free version of Deep Sampler 2 features the Audialab Engine and allows you to generate samples with a prompt, edit samples, and add effects (including community effects).

Deep Sampler 2 Pro has all the features of the free version, as well as batch generation via a file of prompts, creating and sharing “plugin-like ‘effects’” with no coding and the ability to run processing across all files in a folder.
So to put it simply, it seems that the Pro version is largely focused on speeding up the workflow by allowing users to create and modify multiple sounds at once.
