ViatorDSP, which we’ve covered many times here on BPB, has just released a new free plugin called Viator Monster Channel.
ViatorDSP is a one-man project dedicated to creating audio plugins for music producers. Many of them have been released for free, including the fantastic bedroom compressor MkII and graphic EQ.
He has also developed some premium plugins, such as the Vibe Mechanic MkII FX rack. It’s really great to see the wide variety of plugins ViatorDSP offers, from vocal processors to FX racks and compressors.
But today, we will look at his new release. Meet Viator Monster Channel – “a powerful distortion plugin featuring versatile tone controls”.
This plugin models a Class-D amplifier. Without going too deep into electronics, this type of amplifier is common in audio applications and much more efficient and cost-effective than some other classes.
The Class-D amplifier is also known for its punchy sound and added flexibility for tone shaping.
Using Viator Monster Channel is fairly straightforward. Just turn up the Drive control until you like the sound of it, and there’s a handy visual for the distortion amount.
There are 3 tone controls, a mix knob, as well as input and output volume to dial in the sound further.
The plugin comes with 10 presets with the ability to also save your own, once you find your go-to settings.
It also offers A/B’ing functionality, which is always nice when comparing two different presets.
Some other features you’ll find in Viator Monster Channel are oversampling, mid/side processing, tooltips, and A/B’ing functionality for a quick comparison of two different presets.
Overall, the plugin is very straightforward to use but still offers a lot of versatility. You can use it for subtle saturation, total nasty distortion, or anything in between, all in a user-friendly package.
If anything, it would be nice to have a feature that lets the user link the drive and output controls. So the plugin automatically compensates for any volume added by the drive control.
Viator Master Channel is a VST3 and AU plugin for Windows, macOS, and Linux machines.

onGot the plug but it still needs to be activated with a license yeah?
MRugaW
onYes it needs activating after installation. The serial number is posted on your Plugin Boutique account page right after checkout. Additional info: the Windows Installer has other plugins to install so you’ll need to uncheck the rest unless you wanna test them.

onPlease excuse my ignorance once again, plug in newbie here, but can you use the Lifeline modules on their own, outside of the Ll frame?
I also can’t find the “space” module as a separate offer.
Thank you!
