Our friends over at Audio Plugin Deals are currently offering the Mixbox SE effects suite from IK Multimedia, for absolutely free for the next few days.
They have actually done this giveaway before, I’ve personally got Mixbox SE through them for free. But if you’ve missed it before, now is a great time to grab this fantastic plugin.
You can think of Mixbox as a host for a whole bunch of rack effects. Mixbox includes a whopping 70 FX modules and normally sells for $99.
Mixbox SE (or Special Edition) contains only 24 out of the 70 FX but still gives you a lot of sounds to explore.
It normally comes free with select IK Multimedia hardware, but with the current promotion at Audio Plugin Deals, you can grab it for free without buying any gear!
All 24 of these FX are taken from IK Multimedia’s T-RackS, SampleTank, and Amplitube. And if you’ve used these plugins before, you’ll feel right at home with Mixbox SE.
Let’s take a look at the included FX: there are 4 amps, which are inspired by the likes of Marshall and Ampeg.
There’s a channel strip and a digital delay with a few different modes, as well as 3 different reverbs: Ambience, Plate Reverb, and Digital Reverb.
You get 2 different distortions. One with 5 different clipping modes, as well as a Lofi effect which seems to be a bit crusher. There’s also a Saturator-X with multiple tube and tape saturation emulations.
Mixbox SE has a parametric EQ as well as 3 compressors: British Dynamics, White LA, and Limiter.
Lastly, there are 3 filters (Env Filter, Filter Phaser, and Wah 47) and 5 different modulation FXs (Chorus, Electric Flanger, Ensemble, Phaser, and Slicer).
Given that these FX are simplified versions of IK Multimedia plugins, they might be more limited in terms of controls, but still sound fantastic.
Mixbox SE can host up to 8 of the included effects simultaneously, which will give you a lot of sonic possibilities. It has over 130 presets to choose from to inspire you when using it.
Finally, you get a volume fader as well as a dry/wet control for each rack space. This will certainly come in handy for gain staging and dialing in each effect.
Mixbox SE runs as a VST2, VST3, AU, or AAX plugin on Windows and macOS machines.

onThanks Soroosh, BPB, APD & IK, great news
Off topic…
Audio Gridder is new to me, i’ve never heard of it before yesterday, i’m still learning about it, there is a video on the linked page & others online about how it all works…
https://audiogridder.com/#audiogridder
AudioGridder is open source and free software licensed under the MIT license.
AudioGridder is a plugin host that allows for offloading the DSP processing of audio plugins to remote computers running macOS or Windows. The DSP code of the loaded plugins will be executed on the server machine and the plugin UIs will be streamed over the wire.
The AudioGridder server supports the VST2, VST3 and AudioUnit plugin formats.
Basically you can use one or more other computers which have plugins installed to do the processing, connected remotely over a network and use the plugins in your host computers DAW (which saves your host computer processing power).
I’m not sure about the latency over the network

onThis is a must have. I’m not sure what kind of magic they’re using, but not much seems to be able to breathe life into sound as this seems to do. I ended up buying the full package in a sale, but the saturator, which is my favorite component, comes with the free one afaik.

onI own all of these in their standalone form. It’s a slap in the face that IK would even try to offer this to me as a separate product.

onContrarian much, do you? I wasn’t aware of any additions. Besides, those all seem to be from AmpliTube, which I also own in the horizontal version.
So yea, still not paying extra for my White-2A to display in a vertical GUI.

onThey’re all striped down versions of T-Racks, Amplitube and Sample Tank FX. Actually, that makes them a bit more CPU efficient and you get to make FX chains in the single window. I own the full version and find it very useful (got it for $25, which was really a steal) and the SE version has some really good modules included, so no reason not to get it for free.

onNeat. Thanks for the tip.
It all worked right away. The IK Manager authorized the plugins of the SE version right away.
