Plugin Boutique is currently offering a hefty deal for SSL’s Native Essentials Bundle. The bundle is available for just $40, a 92% discount from the list price of $479.
The Native Essentials Bundle is a duo deal with SSL’s Native Channel Strip 2 and Native Bus Compressor 2.
Both plugins are released for macOS (AU, VST2, VST3, AAX Native) and Windows (VST2, VST3, AAX Native).
Plugin Boutique states that a free iLok Account is needed to authorise both plugins.
The bundle sale is a limited-time deal; however, Plugin Boutique does not specify an end date on the product page.
The duo deal is actually a trio deal right now, as by buying the bundle, you’ll also score a free copy of MOK’s Miniraze wave-slicing virtual synth, which is normally $99.
We covered all the details on Plugin Boutique’s April gift of the Miniraze last week.
SSL’s Native Channel Strip 2 and Native Bus Compressor 2 are both emulations of SSL hardware units.
Native Channel Strip 2 emulates the SSL 9000 K large-format console, which is a 2002 variant of the classic 4000 E console from 1979.

Native Channel Strip 2 offers a four-band parametric EQ, filter, comp, and expander/gate, as well as the ability to switch between the E and G series EQ profiles.
The Native Bus Compressor 2 emulates the SSL G center section bus compressor, which was originally released in 1987 as part of the SSL 4000 G console.

The Native Bus Compressor 2 is made to deliver the G Series comp’s ability to glue a mix together and provide a musical response even at higher ratios.
Both the channel strip and comp have fairly straightforward control schemes, which make sense given their origins as emulations of classic hardware units.
Nonetheless, when you put the various parameters to work together, then both releases can offer quite a bit of sonic flexibility.

Both the Native Channel Strip 2 and Native Bus Compressor 2 were released in 2021, although the history of the plugins goes back a lot further.
The first versions of the Native Channel Strip and Native Bus Compressor plugins were released all the way back in 2010.
As far as I can tell, the audio algorithms on Native Channel Strip 2 and Native Bus Compressor 2 seem to be largely the same as the original 2010 versions.
However, they both got a raft of new features added upon their 2021 release, as well as a big update in 2018, so you’re getting more than just 2010 plugins with a paint job.
