Artists in DSP has released version 1.1 of MYON, a unique recursive reverb plugin for macOS and Windows.

MYON isn’t your typical reverb. It’s much more than that, and I found it absolutely fantastic for sound design.
It feeds its own reflections back into the signal, turning any sound into a self-resonating sonic sculpture. The result can be subtle or extreme, ranging from lush ambient spaces to complex drones and evolving harmonic clouds.
MYON really lets you do some unusual things to your sound, ranging from adding a bit of delicate and unusual atmosphere to complete experimental chaos.
I’ve been playing with it this week, and it’s unlike any reverb I’ve used. The XY pad (with “Somewhere Else” and “Decay” axes) makes it incredibly intuitive to morph between spacious realism and self-oscillating madness.
The ability to pitch-shift the reverb and modulate it opens up even more sound design territory.
The new 1.1 update brings a few handy additions. There’s a new preset manager, which lets you save and organize your patches, which is very useful if you’re sculpting pads or drones and want to refer to the same settings later.
The Particle Visualizer has also been improved, and it helps when you want to understand what’s going on under the hood. Also, version 1.1 fixes a crash issue on older Intel Macs and addresses a latency bug, making it more stable in real-time use.
MYON really shines for adding texture and unpredictability to the source material. It works great for spoken word, field recordings, or pads and other sounds that you want to make more ethereal and complex.
It’s easy to lose an hour just turning a random guitar line into a shifting harmonic pad or turning percussion hits into drones. It can also be used more subtly as a traditional reverb, although that almost feels like missing the point.
