Developer Quietformat has released Transient Control, a free transient shaper for macOS and Windows.
Quietformat is a name we’ve seen often in 2025; over the last few months, the busy developer has released the Auralis effects series (includes two free plugins), MELINO (a sample-based virtual instrument), and TILLTONE (a free one-knob tone shaper).
This time, we have Transient Control, a free transient shaper.
Transient Control is available in 64-bit AU and VST3 formats for macOS (10.13 and higher) and Windows (10 and higher).

While Transient Shaper isn’t quite a one-knob plugin, it’s similar to TILLTONE in that it delivers immediate results with minimal effort.
Initially, you use the main transient knob to adjust attack and sustain. Turn the knob left for a crisper attack and shorter sustain, and right for more sustain with a smoother attack.
Beyond the main transient knob, you have Smooth, Sensitivity, and Drive controls. How you use the Smooth control reflects the position of the main transient control.
With the Transient knob pushed toward attack, turning the Smooth control left creates a softer feel.
With the Transient knob pushed toward sustain, the opposite applies; turn the Smooth control right for a smoother feel.
The Sensitivity control allows you to tweak the transient detection to suit your source material. The Drive control saturates the signal to add warmth.
Transient Control is a no-fuss plugin that does the job quickly; as soon as you shift the main control one way or the other, you can hear everything tighten or open up. If you want a quick and easy way to add some punch or just tidy transients up, Transient Control is worth checking out.
The obvious appeal is the ease and immediacy of use, but the developer points out a simple way to use Transient Control to create a unique texture.
If you max out the Smooth and Sensitivity controls while the main transient knob is all the way toward attack, you’ll get a less common, “soft yet tight”, effect.
