Plugin Boutique and Music Radar offer the Evolve Elastic Lite plugin by Excite Audio for free until December 1st. The sample-based synth plugin runs on macOS and Windows.
Evolve Elastic Lite is the trimmed-down version of Excite Audio’s new futuristic sound-mangling instrument, and despite being the “Lite” edition, it’s a pretty deep sound design tool.
If you like bending, twisting, and mutating sounds into weird new shapes, this one is absolutely worth a look.
At the core of Elastic Lite is a quad-layer sampling and synthesis engine. You can load up to four sample or synth sources, blend them with the XY pad, and steer the sound in real time.
The library includes 125 sound sources—from squelchy basses and bubbly plucks to shimmering pads and glitchy textures. I love how drastically you can transform the sounds by jumping between layering sweet spots using the XY morphing.
You also get four macro effects inspired by the elastic theme: Melt, Bounce, Stretch, and Gloss. Melt is a blend of saturation and pitch bending, Bounce adds a rubbery delay, Stretch brings phasing and pitch-bend drift, and Gloss enhances the top end with a bit of sparkle and air.
They’re fun to push hard, especially when paired with the one-click randomizer. I’m usually a fan of random buttons in plugins, and the concept works very well here.
You can either subtly shift the character without losing the core of your patch, or use higher amounts to send the plugin straight into sonic madness.
The Lite edition lacks the full version’s edit page, drag-and-drop modulation, and FX modules, but the workflow doesn’t feel restricted. You still get the expressive XY pad (with separate Sounds/FX modes), a solid browser, and enough shaping controls to take the existing presets in your own direction.
The 75 included presets are plenty to get a feel for what the synth wants to and can do.
Evolve Elastic Lite is free until December 1st with the code MusicRadarElastic. It runs on macOS and Windows in VST, VST3, AU, and AAX formats. After the promo, it sells for $19.
