Audio Plugin Deals is offering Samplea, a lightweight sampler instrument from Cloudy Samples, as a free download during a limited two-week promotion.
First, a quick warning: the Audio Plugin Deals page incorrectly describes Samplea as a WAV collection. It is actually a 64-bit VST3/AU sampler, not a sound library.
I completed the checkout at Audio Plugin Deals, and that part was quick because I already had an account. The confirmation email arrived quickly with download instructions and a product key.
The instructions ask you to install the free Pulse Downloader, enter the key from the email, add Samplea to your products, and download it.
I initially assumed that Pulse had installed the plugin in my DAW folders, but it had only downloaded the package to a folder under Documents. From there, you still need to locate Samplea.vst3 or Samplea.component and copy it manually into the correct system plugin folder.
Don’t get me wrong, I prefer manual plugin installations, and the guide clearly explains where the files belong. What surprised me was having to go through a separate downloader and product-key step, only to copy the plugin manually anyway.

For one small plugin, it feels like too much, and it reminded me exactly why I am keeping that part of the customer experience as simple as possible with VATRA. You purchase it, download the installer, and start using it. There are no activations, license managers, product keys, or unlock steps.
That said, the good news is that Samplea itself is refreshingly simple and useful. Samplers can become needlessly complex when all you want to do is load one sound and start playing.
Decent Sampler is excellent for prepared libraries, but it is not the hands-on single-sample editor I would reach for here. On the other hand, many of us are waiting for the excellent open-source ShortCircuit XT, but its deeper architecture naturally introduces more complexity. Samplea is a surprisingly decent in-between option.
You can drag in WAV, AIF, and AIFF files or load them by right-clicking the sample panel. Note Detect analyzes the root note, while dedicated sample and loop ranges, crossfading, glide, reverse playback, velocity control, and a reference sine wave cover the main playback tools.
Sound shaping includes a visual ADSR envelope, parametric EQ with high-pass and low-pass filters, stereo width, saturation, Crush bitcrushing, reverb, and tempo-synced delay. There is also a limiter, spectrum analyzer, virtual keyboard, editable parameter values, tooltips, and a fully resizable interface.
I miss this era of plugin design. Samplea feels like a properly coded instrument rather than one of the quickly assembled vibe-coded tools that appear so often now. I cannot verify how it was developed, but the old-school simplicity is refreshing.
Samplea is a 64-bit plugin for Windows and macOS. It is available in VST3 format on both platforms and AU on macOS, and it requires a compatible DAW rather than running as a standalone application. The actual plugin size is 46 MB.
Audio Plugin Deals says the free offer runs for two weeks. You can add Samplea to your cart and complete the $0 checkout to claim it.
