Codwaves has made Seaquake, its techno rumble generator for macOS and Windows, permanently free to download.
The developer confirmed that Seaquake is now free forever, so there is no deadline to claim it.
We first featured Seaquake in December 2024, when it was available through a name-your-price offer. The plugin later became a €9.99 product, but everyone can now get it for free.
Seaquake is designed to create those deep kick rumbles associated with techno, warehouse, and bass music. You could achieve a similar effect by combining delay, reverb, distortion, filtering, and dynamics processing, but Seaquake puts the essential controls in a single interface.

Length moves between short, percussive tails and longer decays. Delay adjusts the timing of the rumble so it supports the groove rather than making the low end feel disconnected.
Dynamics controls the weight, while Distortion adds harmonics and grit for a more aggressive sound. The Color control uses tilting filters to make the rumble darker or brighter, and separate Wet and Dry levels let you balance it against the original kick.
The plugin is still intentionally simple, which I always appreciate. It’s handy to use when you want a bit of rumble quickly without assembling and fine-tuning a longer effects chain.
Seaquake has also received several updates since our original article was published. The interface is now resizable, factory presets have been added, and oversampling improves the quality of the distortion stage.
Codwaves also tightened the low end by making the bass frequencies mono and fixed a CPU spike that affected some DAWs when loading the plugin.
The latest version, Seaquake 1.0.7, adds AAX support alongside general stability improvements.
You will need an internet connection and a Codwaves account for activation. Each license supports up to three active computers, although an offline activation becomes permanently tied to that device.
Seaquake is available in VST3, AU, and AAX formats. It supports 64-bit Windows 10 and macOS 10.13 or later, including Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. Codwaves recommends at least 4 GB of RAM and 200 MB of free storage.
