Vandeta Audio Software has released VAS Reverse Reverb, a free reverse reverb and riser plugin for macOS and Windows.
Risers were among the first SFX I started making at the very beginning of my sound design journey. The usual method involves reversing a sound, adding reverb, rendering it, reversing the result again, and lining everything up with the original transient so you get a smooth energy buildup.
VAS Reverse Reverb makes that repetitive process much quicker. You can drop a one-shot sample into the plugin or capture audio directly from a track. It then creates a tempo-synced swell that rises from silence and finishes on the next downbeat.
Once ready, you can drag the rendered audio back into your DAW, where it snaps to the project grid without extra trimming. Background offline rendering keeps the processing load low.
Tail Length offers one, two, four, and eight-bar settings. The main panel also provides Low Cut, stereo Width, Decay, Room Size, and Dry/Wet controls, along with a waveform display and host tempo readout.
Reverse Only produces a clean, grid-locked flip. Mirror folds the swell into a symmetrical shape that rises toward the original hit and breathes back out, with a Mirror X-Fade control for the transition. The dev also included a Tremolo switch that adds movement.
This is similar in spirit to RVRSE, another free reverse reverb riser we featured earlier this year. VAS emphasizes dragging the finished audio into your project, which is handy when you want an editable clip instead of leaving the effect running as an insert.
You can hear Before, After, and Mirror comparisons on the official product page, along with a short demonstration video. There is no separate manual or official YouTube walkthrough available at the time of writing.
To get the plugin, choose the Windows or macOS version and complete a $0 Payhip checkout. An email address is required, but account login is optional, no payment details are requested, and the checkbox for product updates and offers is disabled by default.
VAS Reverse Reverb is available in VST3 format for macOS and Windows, with an AU version also provided for Mac. The developer has not listed specific operating system requirements.
