TMPLT Sounds is offering two free name-your-price drum sample packs through Gumroad, including 75 kick drums generated with its xKick 999 plugin.
The developer recently introduced xKick 999 and Erika Kick Drum Synth, two pretty interesting virtual instruments that caught my eye because they’re inspired by some of my favorite analog drum hardware. However, neither plugin is currently free.
At the time of writing, both kick synths start at €2. The first 200 free copies of Erika Kick Drum Synth have already been claimed, while the recently released KLOP clipper starts at €5.
But not all is lost, because they still have two pretty cool freebies, namely the xKick 999: 75 Free Kick Drums and Stomps & Rumble.
xKick 999 contains 75 kick samples rendered directly from the xKick 999 plugin’s DSP engine. The instrument takes inspiration from the Jomox Xbase 999 bass drum section, and the sample pack covers a range of tones from tight, punchy hits to deeper and heavier low-end sounds.
All 75 sounds come as individual WAV files, so you can drop them into virtually any DAW, drum sampler, or hardware sampler that accepts standard audio files. This is a simpler way to access some of the instrument’s sound without buying or installing the synth itself.
Stomps & Rumble is the second free download. It is a collection of stomp and rumble sounds intended to add a raw character to tracks. They also work quite well for drum layering.
