Partikkel Audio has released VSTi and AU versions of Hadron, a freeware granular synthesizer which was originally developed as a Max for Live device.
The Hadron Particle Synthesizer was released in 2011 as a Max for Live device, now available for a broader range of music production hosts via the VST and AU plugin formats.
Hadron is available for free download via Partikkel Audio’s website (3.6MB download size, VSTi & AU plugin format for Windows and Mac OS X). Please note that a working email address is required in order to get the download link.
The plugin can work both as a synthesizer/sampler or an audio effect which processes the audio signal straight from the live input. It’s possible to gradually morph between the synthesis and effect modes by using the 2D joystick control in the upper-left corner of the GUI.
The developers also state that they’ve implemented a unique kind of granular synthesis, which they’ve labeled particle synthesis.

onThis thing looks rad. I love that it can use samples or an audio stream. I also love getting that ableton look in a plugin. Thanks man. (sorry if you’re not a man, but a woman).
