Amplimood has launched with Gazer FX, its first release and a free multi-effect plugin for macOS and Windows.
I love using simple multi-effects that let you get some interesting combos quickly without building a long chain. This one definitely fits my workflow; it’s very easy to use and is surprisingly good on synths.
Gazer FX puts four sections into a fixed signal path. You get chorus, flanger, vintage drive, and a final Vintage Wash stage that combines reverb, delay, and lo-fi filtering.
The chorus is modeled after the JUNO synth chorus, so it’s no surprise it’s a good match on synthesizers. It immediately makes any patch sound mellower and more interesting.
Next comes a 1990s-style flanger that can go from slow sweeps to faster modulation. I’m not a big fan of flangers, but hey, it’s there.
The Vintage Drive section offers three circuits captured from real pedals (you’ll recognize them by name), ranging from light overdrive to some really gnarly distortion.
Vintage Wash processes the whole signal with its combination of ambiance and lo-fi filters. It can quickly give you that distant, worn-out sound that gets you into shoegaze territory right away.
I’ve mentioned this workflow before when covering Studio Kozak’s free FALA chorus. Simple stompbox-style effects are fun to combine on synths, and Gazer FX packages several of those steps into one convenient plugin.
The plugin was created by Los Angeles producer Danny Couture and includes 12 factory presets. You can also save an unlimited number of your own presets. The developer suggests it for guitars, drums, vocals, and synths.

Gazer FX is a 64-bit plugin for macOS and Windows. It is available in VST3 format on both platforms and AU format on macOS. Amplimood does not list exact minimum operating system versions on the product page.
