Brand new Ardour 3.

Paul Davis has announced the release of Ardour 3, a significantly improved version of this powerful open source DAW for Linux & Mac.

Ardour 3.0 has been released. Ardour is a digital audio workstation. You can use it to record, edit and mix multi-track audio. Produce your own CDs. Mix video soundtracks. Experiment with new ideas about music and sound.

Ardour 3 is available for free download at the official Ardour website (the source code can be download for free, while the compiled version will cost you $1).

Among the many improvements included in the new version of Ardour, the two that stand out the most are MIDI support and the support for VST (although only Linux VST), as well as Audio Unit and LV2 plugins.

I’ve never used Ardour 3 myself, but judging by the feature list it seems like a very capable DAW. Who knows, maybe I’ll switch to Linux some day and give it a try. Do any of you guys make music on Linux?
