Polyphone Software has released Polyphone, a freeware (licensed under GNU General Public License) SoundFont editor for Windows and Linux.
Polyphone is a free software for editing soundfonts in format sf2. These files contain a multitude of audio samples put together and configured so as to form musical instruments that can be used by synthesizers such as fluidsynth and played using a MIDI keyboard.
Polyphone is available for free download via Polyphone Software’s website (7.1MB download size, 32-bit & 64-bit standalone application for Windows & Linux).
The software is currently at v0.5 and is still being developed. The first version of Polyphone was released in January 2013.
I haven’t made any new SoundFonts in a long while (the last one I’ve made features Casio SA-10 samples and is available for free download on BPB), mostly due to the fact that SoundFont editors are not very easy to work with. Polyphone seems like a program with an easier workflow, so I might give it a go.
