ThrillseekerVBL by Variety Of Sound.
Variety Of Sound has released ThrillseekerVBL, the long-awaited latest addition to their Thrillseeker series of virtual effects for Windows.
Thrillseeker VBL is an emulation of a “vintage broadcast limiter” following the classic Variable-Mu design principles from the early 1950′s. They were used to prevent audio overshoots by managing sudden signals changes.
Thrillseeker VBL is available for free download via Variety Of Sound (2.66MB download size, 32-bit VST plugin format for Windows).
The plugin was designed to add a slight amount of distortion mix-wide with subtle use, but it can also be used as a more obvious creative effect when you overdrive the input. I can’t wait to test this plugin, since it seems very easy to use and I’m almost certain that it will sound fantastic.
What I’m waiting for now is an improved equalizer or even a complete channel strip by Variety Of Sound. I enjoy using their BootEQ and NastyVCS plugins and I’d love to see those two re-released and updated with that Thrillseeker treatment.
