DreamDrums Drum Machine VSTi Plugin Released By Odo (BETA)

Odo has released a beta version of DreamDrums, a forthcoming freeware drum machine instrument in VSTi plugin format for Windows.

DreamDrums is freeware and not a 808 or 909 etc. But it can be close to the 606 and 808. Still, I hope you like it and want to help me with a better GUI and or presets. Ideas are always welcome.

DreamDrums is available for free download via KVR Audio (1.4 MB download size, ZIP archive, 32-bit VST plugin format for Windows).

The plugin is currently in beta state, however it is fully functional and can be used for synthesizing some pretty cool electronic drum sounds. It sounds close to the legendary Roland TR-606 analogue drum machine, but it’s also capable of synthesizing quirky and unusual drum hits which is something I always appreciate in a drum synthesizer. The instrument will remain freeware even after the beta testing stage is over.

Odo is currently open for suggestions regarding the GUI design and the features of the instrument. You can contact him at the forum thread linked above. I’ve noticed several typos on the interface, hopefully these will be fixed soon in a new release. At this point, the plugin features 10 drum modules, one kick drum, two snares, two hi-hats, three toms, one clap and one cymbal.

An older version of the plugin was already featured on BPB in this article. Obviously, this neat little drum machine has evolved quite a bit in the past several months.

I’m a big fan of Odo’s previous releases, especially his chiptune synthesizers. His brilliant Dream 64 V2 synthesizer which emulates the SID chip ranked at #13 on BPB’s round-up of the best freeware VST plugins from 2013.
