Output has announced the release of Free Reverse Loops, a completely free collection of audio loops which were created with their flagship virtual instrument REV.
The download pack contains 50 audio loops in total, formatted for use with Propellerhead Reason, Native Instruments Kontakt and Logic Pro. Thankfully, a separate folder with individual WAV files is also included in the freebie package, meaning that these loops can be used in virtually any DAW or sampler instrument out there.
The benefit of using the included instrument patches in REX and NKI format though, is that they will sync to your audio project’s tempo automatically. If you go for WAV files, you’ll need to time-stretch them or re-pitch the loops manually.
The included loops are sorted into 5 different categories:
- Aggressive
- High Electronic
- Low Electronic
- Organic
- Percussive
My favorite part of the pack are the loops in the “percussive” folder, which are surprisingly fresh and inspirational. I think that I’ll be using these quite a lot, either for inspiration when I start working on a new project, or simply for layering on top of programmed drum sequences in order to add an extra bit of depth and movement.
All things considered, this is an interesting freebie and you shouldn’t pass it if you enjoy experimenting with audio loops. It’s also a nice showcase of the sounds which can be created with REV.
