Synth Magic has released Extravoice, a free NI Kontakt sample library based on a collection of audio cassette recordings of the Hammond F-100 Extravoice organ.
Extravoice is based on a collection of Hammond F-100 Extravoice multi-samples that were captured using a Sony cassette deck. The sounds were provided by KVR Audio forum member spitfire31 and the custom user interface for NI Kontakt was designed by Flavours of Lime.
The included NKI patches will require the full version of NI Kontakt 5 (or Kontakt Player in case you don’t mind the 15 minute time limit), however the download pack also includes the WAV files which can be used in pretty much any digital audio workstation or sampler instrument on the market. The top half of the custom NI Kontakt user interface features 15 drawbars which are used to control the timbre. Right below it is the FX section with a set of built-in effects and performance controls (reverb, rotary speaker, portamento, bass, monophonic, vibrato, envelope). The Envelope section is particularly interesting, as it features only a couple of buttons which are used to soften the attack and add a bit of release to played notes, potentially turning the instrument into sort of a pad machine. Extravoice can be downloaded completely free of charge from the Freebies page linked below, no registration required.
On a related note, Synth Magic has also released a free Digital Keyboards Synergy sound library which can be downloaded from their MediaFire account (link shared with Synth Magic’s approval). Synergy is a non-programmable digital additive synthesizer that was manufactured in the 1980s. Synth Magic’s free NI Kontakt version of the instrument features 19 presets and a nice looking custom user interface (WAV samples are not included in this one).
