DontCrac[k]is giving away the Xpand!2 virtual instrument by AIR Music Technology as a completely free download on their website until November 30th.
Xpand!2 has been around for almost a decade, first introduced along with Pro Tools 8 back in 2008. Still, it is a rather versatile and decent sounding virtual rompler instrument despite its age. The GUI is a bit small by today’s standards and the controls might be a bit cumbersome to use on higher resolution screens, but the quality of the included sounds and the sheer amount of available presets are well worth the asking price.
And the asking price is now lower than ever, as Xpand!2 can be downloaded completely free of charge via DontCrac[k]. Normally priced around $69 for the full version, the instrument was recently offered for as low as $1 during several flash sales on websites like Pluginboutique and VSTBuzz. However, unlike those sales, this is the first time ever that you can download a fully licensed copy of Xpand!2 completely free of charge. Make sure to act fast, though, because this is a time-limited offer which will expire on November 30th this year.
Xpand!2 comes with over 2,500 included presets, covering a vast range of electronic and acoustic instruments, vocals, drums, and sound effects. The presets can be stacked together to create multis, with four-channel multitimbral operation and support for up to 64 voices per part. The instrument is compatible with all VST and AU plugin hosts on PC and Mac.
To grab your free copy of Xpand!2, visit the DontCrac[k]product listing linked below and add the plugin to your shopping cart. Don’t be discouraged by the list price of $69.99, because you will reduce it to $0 by entering the coupon code XpandFreebie at checkout. After applying the coupon code, simply complete the checkout process to receive your personal serial number which will be delivered to your email address and also available in your DontCrac[k]user account. To activate your free copy of Xpand!2, you will need to enter your serial number when loading the plugin for the first time.
If you want even more sounds, AIR Music Technology is offering an upgrade to AIR Instrument Expansion Pack 3 Complete at 50% off ($74.99 instead of the $149.99 list price). With the upgrade, you’re adding 20 pro-quality virtual instruments to your collection.
UPDATE: You will also need an iLok user account to activate your Xpand!2 license (just the free account will do, no USB dongle required). Also, our readers from Canada are reporting that they have to pay a $10 tax at checkout, so it turns out that the offer isn’t 100% free for Canada residents. You can try checking out with a different address to bypass this limitation.
Xpand!2 is available for free download via DontCrac[k] (32-bit & 64-bit VST/AU plugin format for Windows & macOS).

onThe website says you can only use it for 64-bit host applications, but your article says it’s available in 32-bit. I was hoping to use it in 32-bit on Ableton. Am I missing something?
Adam
onOnly drawback is you have to use 64bit OS (not host) and thats all.
Frank
onIt is indeed available in 32-bit.
Tomislav Zlatic
onI believe it’s also available in 32-bit.

onThanks for visiting!

onI agree – it is still functional rompler (in my case for the acoustic sounds). Of course, you have here a lot of synth sounds but I use separately other softsynths for this purpose. However, it is true – you can make some music from scratch only with this plugin.

onFrom my experience, it’s a great tool for starting new tracks. Lots of sounds to choose from and nicely categorized ensuring a fast workflow.
