Developer orph has released PLUSH, a free brilliance enhancer and loudness plugin for macOS and Windows.
PLUSH is designed as a compact finishing processor for the end of a mixing or mastering chain. It combines two processing stages, adding brightness through the Brilliance section and harmonic weight through Inflate. All of that comes before a true-peak limiter on the output to prevent excessive peaks.
I love the minimal design, and the product page deserves some praise, too. It feels way more polished and original than a typical plugin store nowadays, with before-and-after audio examples you can switch between directly in the browser.
The interface is similarly minimal, keeping everything in one small window, with simple button-like fields you can click to enable or disable and drag to adjust. The Input and Output provide a wide gain range from -60 to +12 dB, while the 12-dot meters display the incoming and outgoing peak levels.
Brilliance comes in three flavors. Air applies a high-frequency shelf at 12 kHz, Sizzle generates harmonics above 6 kHz, and Both combines the two approaches.
The sound is okay, although I expected a little more from this section. Brilliance feels a bit harsh to me, particularly when pushed, but it should still be usable on sounds that need top-end presence. I would use it carefully on smoother or darker sources rather than applying it across the entire mix.
Inflate is more interesting and works well as a loudness and weight stage. It adds harmonic density and perceived level without simply treating the plugin like another output fader. You can run it full-band in Low, Medium, or Fat mode, or enable three-band processing with Linkwitz-Riley crossovers fixed at 240 Hz and 2.4 kHz.

The signal path runs with 8x oversampling, and the final true-peak limiter keeps the output at -1 dBTP. PLUSH processes mono and stereo signals, supports full parameter automation, and operates at sample rates from 44.1 to 192 kHz with a 32-bit floating-point internal path.
Getting it is refreshingly easy. Click GET FREE on the product page, and the site automatically serves the installer for your operating system. There is no account, email form, or checkout to mess with. The macOS ZIP is approximately 11.3 MB, while the Windows installer is around 3 MB.
PLUSH is available as a VST3 plugin and standalone software for Windows, and in AU, VST3, and standalone formats for macOS. The Mac build is a Universal Binary for Intel and Apple Silicon.
