HoRNet has announced the release of Angle, a freeware (Facebook or Twitter account required) tilt equalizer and saturation plugin in VST, VST3, AAX, and AU plugin formats for 32-bit and 64-bit digital audio workstations on PC and Mac.
Angle is a fairly standard tilt equalizer plugin except for the addition of the Analog processing mode which is based on HoRNet’s AnalogStage plugin and its OpAmp analog emulation model. Engaging the Analog mode adds harmonics to the processed audio signal, resulting in a subtly enhanced and “warmed up” sound on the output.

Other controls, apart from the Analog switch mentioned above, include Input and Output volume knobs with Auto Gain mode switches on both. Angle also features oversampling which is adjusted internally to keep the aliasing to a minimum.
For those unfamiliar with the tilt EQ concept, it is simply a type of equalizer which “rotates” the frequency content around a given frequency. For example, if the tilt frequency is set to 650 Hz as it is in Angle, rotating the tilt dial (or the Angle knob in this case) towards the right will amplify the content above 650 Hz and reduce the volume on the other side of the frequency spectrum. It is a simple but effective technique for quickly altering the overall tone of a recording.
All in all, Angle is a neat little mixing tool to grab for free if you don’t already own a tilt equalizer. The analog saturation feature is a nice addition and can be used to warm up the audio in your mix even if you’re not looking to use Angle’s tilt EQ functionality.
